Wood remembers how it was treated.
Wooden Furniture
Good wooden furniture begins long before the first cut, with seasoned timber, matched grain and joints designed to move with the seasons. We work in teak, walnut, oak and ash, finished by hand.

What defines it
Considered in every detail.
Seasoned, selected timber
Stock is seasoned and chosen board by board for stability, colour and figure.
Traditional joinery
Mortise and tenon, dovetails and tongue-and-groove, used where they belong.
Hand finishing
Oil, wax, polish or PU, built up in thin coats and rubbed back between each.
Made to be repaired
Solid wood can be refinished and restored. These are pieces intended to outlast their first owner.

Questions
Asked often.
Which timber is best for Kolkata’s humidity?
Well-seasoned teak is the most stable in our climate. Walnut and oak perform very well indoors when properly sealed. We advise piece by piece.
Solid wood or veneer?
Each has its place. Solid wood for frames, legs and edges; veneer over a stable core for large flat panels, where solid timber would move. Good furniture usually uses both.
How should wooden furniture be cared for?
Keep it out of direct sun and away from standing water, dust with a soft dry cloth, and let us refresh the finish every few years.
